Are You Gonna Be My Ghoul?

Are You Gonna Be My Ghoul? (Harmony Glen) by AC Ruttan
Unrated

Cursed by a sea witch and matched on an app with one of her descendants?

A thousand years ago, ghoul Magnus was cursed by a landlocked sea witch who blamed him and his twin brother for all her problems. A classic case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

He’s gotten over his anger about his predicament.

Sort of.

Since the Great Revelation, he and his twin ghoul brother are completely focused on turning the former funeral home they bought into a Dead and Breakfast. At least that’s something to count on, because ending the curse seems a bit impossible. Only true love can break it, but Magnus doesn’t have much hope after ten centuries.

Until a connection on a monster dating app gives him an inkling of hope. That is, until he meets her and sees the face of the witch who cursed him and his brother. He thinks it’s some sort of centuries-old revenge plot, that she’s confused and annoyed. Turns out, his “match” is the sea witch’s descendent. Fate has a wicked sense of humor.

Mercedes is an outcast in her family because, as witches go, she’s a disaster. One too many explosions made her the embarrassment of the family. Her only redeeming power: she can see and talk to ghosts. But she keeps that secret to herself so her nasty family doesn’t exploit it. Mercedes has always had a soft spot for things that go bump in the night.

On the advice of her bestie, she moves to Harmony Glen seeking a peaceful life. She’s hired at the brand-new Dead and Breakfast run by the sexy, albeit annoying Magnus and his twin.

After a bad first date and the fact that he’s one of her bosses, he’s off-limits. Only she can’t forget about the connection on the app. Also, the pesky ghosts of the Dead and Breakfast don’t make it easy for her to keep her distance from him.

Maybe she could break the curse her ancestor cast? Maybe she could right this wrong by falling in love with the ghoul? Except Mercedes doesn’t much believe in fairytales, even surrounded by monsters in the coziest, happiest town ever.

Warning: this book contains a lot of meddling ghosts, a few minor explosions, curses, a jealous restless soul, and a found family.

Though they once lived in secret, “monsters” have inhabited the earth as long as humans have walked the earth. As technology advanced by leaps and bounds, the ability to remain hidden dwindled. Earth’s non-human creatures faced a choice: allow themselves to be discovered, or step forward and introduce themselves. Either option could have ended badly for monsters and humans alike—and in some places, it did.

But not in Harmony Glen.

After The Great Revelation, Harmony Glen welcomed monsters with open arms. This small town in Upstate New York is now home to humans and non-humans! Integration has been so successful in Harmony Glen, the town even changed its motto to “Come for the harmony, stay for the happily ever after.”

Welcome to Harmony Glen. We know you’re going to love it here.

Harmony Glen

Harmony Glen is a lakeside town where humans and monsters quietly rebuilt trust after the world changed. After The Great Revelation, creatures once forced to hide now walk open roads, share dinner tables, and fall in love in broad daylight. But peace rarely arrives without complications.

In this cozy fantasy romance series you follow characters who are more than their species. A witch, a Gorgon, a single mom, a grumpy monster, each carries scars: emotional, physical, sometimes magical. The streets of Harmony Glen might feel warm in daylight, the air still at ease, but at night fears stir, magic pulses, and hearts ache for acceptance.

The first book, Hiss and Tell, pulls you in with Aspen, a mother trying to shield her child from disappointment, and Sebastian, the shy snake-haired librarian whose touch brings her more than comfort. Their fake-dating contract unravels under real longing, hidden magic, and truths too powerful to ignore. Later stories explore other kinds of romance: found family, healing, and learning to trust beyond what the eye can see.

What makes this world resonate is how ordinary meets extraordinary. The monster next door might have venomous snakes, horns, claws, or arcane gifts, but in Harmony Glen they also have insecurities, dreams, and fiercely loyal hearts. The atmosphere shifts between tender domestic scenes and sharp magical stakes, with both character growth and steamy encounters woven together.

Every book is a standalone romance with a guaranteed happy ending, so you can dive in anywhere and still feel the magic. Harmony Glen invites you to believe that love does not erase differences, it embraces them, sometimes more boldly than magic itself.
