by David J. Gatward
Hatchet Hill (DI Haig Crime Thrillers #2) by David J. Gatward
Unrated

A slaying tied to the occult. Can this driven investigator defend her adopted home from a killer with a twisted agenda?

Somerset, England. Grief still haunts Gordy Haig’s every moment. Mourning her fiancée’s death, she finds solace in the quiet spaces of the church and takes comfort in tarot reading. But she’s pulled from her dark reverie when a beloved local Police Community Support Officer is found brutally slain.

Shocked at the rage needed to plant an axe in a man’s head, Gordy fears how far the nightmare could go. And after she unearths evidence the victim had been researching ancient sacrificial rituals, she is drawn even deeper into the area’s sinister history with the occult.

Can she pierce the veil of darkness before another innocent meets a ghastly demise?

Hatchet Hill is the riveting second book in the DI Haig Crime Thrillers series. If you like relatable protagonists, chilling stakes, and backdrops steeped in mystery, then you’ll love David J Gatward’s dark labyrinth of secrets.

David J. Gatward

David J. Gatward

David J Gatward was born in Bristol and grew up in the Cotswolds, Wensleydale, and Lincolnshire, before heading off to the Lake District to train in outdoor education.

Having failed to realise on reading the prospectus that this meant being in a school classroom and not just climbing mountains, he graduated and went straight into publishing.

His first book was published when he was 18. Since then, he has written numerous books for children and adults, both under his own name and as a ghost writer. He was winner of the Leeds Children’s Book Award, and was short-listed for the 2023 Kindle Storyteller Award.

David now lives in Somerset and is constantly amazed by how his life has turned out.
