Walter Tevis
Walter Stone Tevis (1928–1984) was an American novelist and short story author. He wrote science fiction and mainstream novels.
He is the author of the science fiction novels The Man Who Fell to Earth (1963), Mockingbird (1980) and The Steps of the Sun (1983). He has also written The Hustler (1959), The Color of Money (1984), The Queen Gambit (1983) and a short story collection Far From Home (1981).
