  ★ 9.54 / 102

Rezkin’s army has been defeated and he is among the dead. Rising in the shadows, Rezkin is free from the shackles of power. But the darkness is his home, and there he stalks his foes. His friends, alone and scattered, face the war with an empty throne.

Rumors of Rezkin’s survival spawn hope and discord on the Souelian. Unable to put Rezkin to rest, Azeria chases answers. In the criminal underworld she hunts the Raven, willing to extract the truth in blood.

In Lon Lerésh, Yserria and Malcius become entangled in a deadly game. Rezkin’s absence has left the queen vulnerable, and the nobles vie for dominance. Beneath their intrigue and machinations a sinister plot unfolds while an ancient magic hangs in the balance.

With his fledgling empire on the brink of collapse and Caydean reigning unchecked, Rezkin must be more than an emperor. He must become the Shadow Knight.

Khann
(Vaxxlian Alien Mail Order Brides #5)
10 / 10

This book was really good and I loved Belle's daughter Amie and how she instantly bonded with Khann, their relationship was so cute. I also enjoyed seeing how the relationship between Belle and Khann slowly evolved as they got to know one another. Khann was such a great character that I enjoyed getting to know. I look forward to reading and rereading many books featuring these Vaxxlian Warriors.

Review: Tales from the Rain: Early Weird Fiction by Mark Howard Jones (published by Macabre Ink)

Before I delve into reviewing the contents of this collection, I will say a few words about the author and his fiction in general.

Mark Howard Jones is an author who may have slipped under the radar of many speculative fiction readers, but he has established himself as one of the best and most original writers of weird fiction. He is probably best known to those who love the darker side of literary speculative fiction, because his fiction has appeared in many magazines and anthologies that feature dark fiction and literary speculative fiction.

I personally consider Mark Howard Jones to be one of the most talented authors of weird fiction and literary strange fiction, because he writes excellent prose that touches you on a deep level and seduces you with its darkness. His fiction is imaginative, intelligent, bizarre, captivating, unsettling and original. Unlike many other authors, he is not constrained by genres, but writes in various genres. He also blends speculative fiction genres in some of his stories in a fresh and highly compelling way.

The Chronicles of the Necromancer Series is Back by Gail Z. Martin

The Summoner (Chronicles of the Necromancer #1) by Gail Z. Martin

My Chronicles of the Necromancer series (The Summoner, The Blood King, Dark Haven, Dark Lady’s Chosen) came out seventeen years ago, truly my first books from the heart.

It took me twenty years to write The Summoner. Fortunately, I’ve gotten faster since then! It was the book that sparked my desire to become a published author and learn the craft. That series remains very special to me, even after more than a dozen other series and over sixty novels since then.

To celebrate that landmark, we’ve brought out two different commemorative versions for collectors and long-time fans of the series, with beautifully different covers—plus a re-issue and glow-up of the original versions.

The Lettered Version will only ever have 26 pairs of hard cover books with new, vibrant artwork. Each book is signed and given a unique letter. They are only available directly through our Square store, not in stores.

The Numbered Version will only ever have 250 pairs of hard cover books with completely different artwork from either the original books or the Lettered Version. Like the Lettered Version, the Numbered Version can be signed and personalized, and is only available through our Square store.
