VOLUME ONE OF THE RIFTWAR SAGA
The story begins at Crydee, a frontier outpost in the tranquil Kingdom of the Isles. There, a humble orphan boy, Pug, is apprenticed to a master magician... and the destinies of two worlds are changed forever. Before long the apprentice's emerging powers have produced two miracles and won Pug a duke's favor and a princess's heart.
Suddenly the peace of Pug's homeland is destroyed as mysterious alien invaders swarm through the kingdom, and Pug is thrust into the coming conflict. But for Pug and his warrior friend Tomas, a destiny of otherworldly, mind-expanding adventures into the unknown has only just begun. To Tomas will come a legacy of savage power from an ancient civilization.
But Pug is to be thrust into the strangest adventure of all: he will be snatched through the magic Rift, taken prisoner, and granted the unimaginable powers of a dazzling new magic. Ultimately the destiny of two worlds will be placed in his youthful hands.

Book Reviews
In Magician Raymond Feist cleverly mixes a medieval world with a world reminiscent of Ancient China. As one of the first Fantasy genre books I read this book hooked me into the genre and from this book i started seeking out of similar stories. I found it to be an utterly mesmirising read. The action never lets up, the individual stories of Pug and Tomas held my attention equally (although I like Tomas' hero journey). It's a big big book, but we should be use to that. I completely enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others. To this day i still think it is an unsung hero of the genre.
Raymond E. Feist's Magician is the first book of The Riftwar Saga. I enjoyed reading Magician. Magician is a good and very entertaining fantasy book. I can recommend it to everybody, who likes good fantasy. By the way, if you buy the US paperback version of Magician, you must buy two books (Magician: Apprentice and Magician: Master). I think that the UK version hasn't been split into two books.
